2nd Annual Human Rights Art & Film Festival
The second annual Eureka Springs Human Rights Art & Film Festival will be held in Eureka Springs at the Auditorium on August 5th and 6th, 2016. The festival is scheduled during Eureka Springs Diversity Weekend and is free and open to EVERYONE.
This year, we are proud to announce our partnership with Kaleidoscope Film Fest of Little Rock Arkansas, with a feature block of their 2015 winning films. Other highlights of the film fest are special screening blocks from “Arkansas Shorts” and Low Key Arts.
Categories of Interest:
- Student Films: made on mobile devices and under 10 minutes– FREE entry. Any topic.
- Documentaries: short form (under 30 minutes) or feature length – $25 entry fee. Any topic.
- LGBT Voices: short films made by or about the LGBT community. Special interest in point-of-view stories about Orlando and individuals/groups who have advanced the LGBT movement. FREE entry.
- Women in Film: short or feature length films made by or about women of note who have contributed to the advancement of women’s rights. FREE entry.
Awards will be given in the categories of Student Films and Documentaries.
The fest will kick off Friday night, August 5 with a preview party. A food & wine reception will start at 6:30p.m. at The Auditorium followed by a special screening of the film, “Not Without Us”—an important documentary on climate change. The film’s editor, Jeff Boyette, will participate in a Q&A afterwards.
Screenings will begin on Saturday, August 6 at the Auditorium at 10 a.m. and continue through 5 p.m. with the awards handed out at 5:30 p.m. Winners will receive the Indie Award statuette. This year’s festival received 187 entries from all over the world.
